#wcw with Ali Smith
Ali was one of those people who saw me on Instagram, reached out for a meeting over coffee and we sort of been best friends since. I've watched this lady run a successful photography company to running her own network marketing company to starting a beauty and coaching website. She excels at everything she touches. Her passion and drive to do more makes me want to get off the couch and work just a little hard. And she does it all as a single mom of 3. I'm not sure how she fits everything into her daily life but she does it without any complaints.
How did you get on your current path you are on today?
I blinked. Lol. No really...my life today is a complete 180 from the life I was living just a year and a half ago and I'm still trying to figure out how it happened. I think I just finally realized that my future has no limits. That the only thing that was limiting me was my belief that there were limits. Once I adopted that mindset, everything started falling into place.
What were your biggest wins?
I would say my biggest win is being an independent woman for the first time in my life. Not relying on a spouse or a family member or the government to support me. Knowing I am capable of so much more than I ever thought I was and supporting myself and my children doing something I absolutely love.
You grew your business online and quickly. What advice would you give others trying to do the same?
While I did grow my business mostly online, I also am a firm believer in networking in your community. Do NOT discount the value in joining networking groups, attending events and conferences, volunteering and any other methods of getting to know those in your community. One of the biggest objections I get to people who want to start their own business is "I don't know enough people." Luckily for everyone...that is something that is easily fixable. I always try to ask myself, if Facebook or Instagram or the other social media platforms we know today disappeared tomorrow....would my business still sustain? In my opinion, your answer should be yes.
What is your #1 advice you’d give today to anyone who is looking to become a boss-lady ?
My #1 advice would simply be to not limit yourself by your beliefs about what you're capable of. Don't be afraid to fail because failure is a part of your success. We often hold onto all of the reasons why would "shouldn't" or "wouldn't" or "couldn't" do something. Instead, put your dreams and goals to paper and imagine that anything is possible. Only then will you be able to take the first step to turning those dreams into reality.
Where do you pull your inspiration from, in business or in life?
I know this sounds conceited, but honestly...I've learned to inspire myself every single day. No one else cares about ME like I do. No one else cares about my success like I do. While I absolutely pull inspiration and ideas and motivation from others in various aspects of life & business, I've learned that if I'm not feeding my OWN soul and inspiring MYSELF, then I have a really hard time being a "doer" and not just a "dreamer." Being inspired by others and comparing ourselves to others can often overlap so by trying to by my own true inspiration, I can only compare myself and compete with the person I was yesterday and try to be a better me today.
What are some projects you are working on right now?
Oh man, my list of projects right now is longer than it's ever been. Once I was able to truly define my avatar, my branding and my message...the ideas started flowing out of my brain faster than I can keep up! It's terrifying and exciting all at the same time. A couple of projects that are priorities are building my brand new site and coaching for women who are like I used to be. Insecure with little to self worth and helping them become their most beautiful self, inside & out. It's slowly taking shape and I'm so excited to see where it all goes!
